Chris Salvary
Chris Salvary originally trained as a librarian and worked in further education colleges for 15 years. Following a mid-life career crisis she discovered sports massage and gained her Diploma from the London School of Sports Massage in 1992. This enabled her to combine her interests in health, fitness and complementary therapies in a career as a practitioner and teacher and she now practises remedial and sports massage therapy in Hertfordshire and in the City of London.
Chris gained her MSc in Complementary Therapy: Bodywork in 2003 from the University of Westminster, where she also worked up until December 2009 as part-time Senior Lecturer/Clinic Supervisor on the degree in Health Sciences: Remedial Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy as Module Leader for Remedial and Sports Massage.
She has been involved in disability sport for many years and has worked with various Great Britain teams at the Paralympic Games in Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004. Chris has also worked with Team Wales Elite Athletes with Disabilities at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006, and provided sports massage to ParalympicsGB at the Macau holding camp prior to the Beijing Games in 2008.
A passion for track and field athletics led Chris to take up sprinting and long jump in her late forties (in search of her second childhood perhaps?) and she regularly competes in masters’ events both locally and nationally.
