This highly practical course will examine a range of advanced or complex soft tissue techniques, the science underpinning each and the most efficient and effective forms of application. We will discuss popular methods, explore and perfect the application to achieve maximum benefit for your clients. Underlying physiological, neurological and psychological dimensions for each technique will be thoroughly scrutinised.
Means of assessing your clients will be included to in order to determine measurable changes in tissue consistency, length, and tone. Particular focus will be placed on evidence-based practice and efficacy in relation to each technique.
Upon successfully completing this module you will receive our Certificate of Attendance.
In addition, the assessment of your knowledge and practical skills may contribute towards a Level 5 VTCT Award and our Advanced Practitioner Diploma. For further information please see our L5 Advanced Practitioner Course details.

Our flexible approach to studying and progressing through each level continues into Level 5 with options to attend individual modules as CPD and apply retrospectively to combine these towards a Level 5 award, or to take more structured approach. > Entry Requirements
To register on this Level 5 Module, you must already be studying towards, or have successfully completed our Level 4 Sports Massage Practitioner course, or an equivalent recognised Level 4 award.
Other eligible applicants may include Foundation Degree and Full Honours Degree graduates allied to healthcare, and other professions such as Osteopaths, Chiropractors, etc.

This 2 day course will cover the following:
- Modes of loading and pathways for manual therapy
- Neurological receptors
- Tissue adaptation and tissue repair
- PNF - Post Isometric Relaxation
- Positional Release
- Active Isolated Stretching
- Myofascial release
- Evidence based practice
Students from our Level 4 Sports Massage Practitioner Diploma course will be familiar with these techniques and enjoy further study into the science and practical application to enhance their knowledge and skills. These complex techniques are a Level 5 requirement.
> Course Structure & Duration
You will be provided with pre-course reading to assist with gaining essential knowledge which will be explored further during the practical training.
The weekend course will run from 9.00am to 5.00pm each day and will be conducted in a relaxed and informative group learning environment. There will be a blend between expert tuition, practical demonstrations, student interaction and participation.
> Assignments & Assessments
You will be observed performing client assessments and treatments throughout the two days of training to ensure you are able to apply specifc techniques safely and competently.
> Course Fees
The fee for each Level 5 module is £265, except Taping for Sport at £285. You may attend this course as part of our Level 5 Award, or for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). If you are attending the course as CPD (16 credits), you will be required to pay the full course fee when applying.
