Heroes Half (half marathon)
Sunday 12th June 2011 - Cambridgeshire
The RAF have invited us to send a team of therapists along to support their competitors in this half marathon. It will take place in Bassingbourn Cambridgeshire on Sunday 12th June and will start at 9.00am. The course combines a full loop of this historic airfield and several surrounding villages.
We have been asked to set up by 9.30am and as this is an early start, may appeal to students who live locally (although a small mileage allowance can be claimed). Please feel free to volunteer for both events being offered on the 12th June. If you are feeling really energetic you could travel onto the Bedford Games for the afternoon.

Bedford International Games
Sunday 12th June 2011 - Bedfordshire
This prestigious all day athletics event will offer those taking part the chance to see and work with some famous international athletes. The day always promises to keep our team very busy and offers some great experience with many different areas of competition. We are asked to be set up and ready by 10.00, as the first event starts at 10.30. The Games are due to finish about 6.00pm.
Some of our team may wish to provide pre-event massage as well and will need to start at 9.00am; this might appeal to those therapists local to the area. Goodie bags, food and drink are available but we cannot claim travelling expenses. This event is open to all the public and can be a good family day out.

Pathfiner March
Saturday 25th June 2011 - Cambridgeshire
The March is held to perpetuate the memory of the Famous RAF Pathfinder Force and their sacrifice in the defence of our Country during the Second World War. It is a 46-mile circular walk over public roads and rights of way linking the four historic Pathfinder airfields of Wyton, Graveley, Oakington and Warboys. It is an extremely arduous event as it begins at 4am, with a 20-hour time limit and is open to both military personnel and members of the public. Last year the RAF had around 300 participants.
The organisers have asked for volunteers who can provide sports massage to weary walkers at two of the checkpoints. One at Longstanton Sports Club and the other one at RAF Wyton which is the finish point.
The two teams of volunteers are needed at Longstanton from around 12.00noon until 4.00pm and then at Wyton from around 4.00pm until the end of the event, which can be anytime up to 11.00pm. Any amount of time you can spare within those two time brackets will be greatly appreciated.
Expenses will be reimbursed and bacon butties will be on sale.
